What’s the nearest ski slopes?

The Hotel is located in between 2 premier ski resorts in Shigakogen. Mt. Yokote (2,307m) is 5 mins. by foot while Kumanoyu Resort is approx. 7 mins.
We offer free shuttle to Mt. Yokote.

Is there a ski/snowboard hire nearby?

We have ski set, snowboard set, wear and other ski accessories, snow shoes for rent at the hotel. Make your request at the Front Desk. Adult sizes are usually available at anytime except for XXL. Please email us to verify kids size and availability. The ski lockers are provided corresponding to your room number.

Do you have discounted lift passes?

We have exclusive Mt. Yokote one-day ski lift pass available at the Front Desk. For Kumanoyu Resort you can purchase it at the lift counter and for the Shigakogen Super Pass, you can get it at any lift office counter in the area. Refund for IC Ticket can be done at the hotel.

Do you have Ski Lessons in English?

We have network of ski Instructors whom we can arrange for lessons. All lessons are private with a maximum of 4 participants. We suggest advance reservation during peak season (December until February). Email us for details and reservation.

Is there night skiing in the area?

The Kumanoyu Ski Resort operates night skiing every Saturday from January until March. Also, they have the New Year’s Eve torch skiing that starts from 9 p.m. on 31st December and participation is free but on limited number.

What’s the nearest bus stop?

The nearest bus stop is “Hotaru Onsen/Suzurikawa” bus stop which is a minute away from the hotel entrance. There’s a direct Nagaden bus from Nagano station to Shigakogen. Check the bus timetable with the hotel or at the Tourism Office at the train station as it changes every season.
The nearest train station is Yudanaka Station. From Yudanaka take the local Shigakogen bus to Hotaru Onsen/Suzurikawa. Some buses require transfer at Hasuike, the bus hub at Shigakogen. Be sure to tell the driver which stop you are getting off to make sure you are not taking the wrong bus.
If you come directly from the airport, we can assist you in booking with a local taxi for pick-up from the airport directly to the lobby of the hotel. The cost is approximately the same if you take the public transit less the hassle of transferring trains/buses and waiting time.

Is there a parking area?

There is a free parking space in front of the hotel and you don’t need to make your reservation. If the hotel front space is full, use the adjacent parking space. In winter season, we require you to leave the car keys at the Front Desk. If the snow fall is heavy, we need to plow the snow for our Guests’ convenience and sometimes require moving of your car from where it is parked.

How to get to the Hotel by car in winter?

Be sure to have winter tires or tire chains if you’re coming in November until March. There is a place at Kanbayashi area where you can set your tire chains before heading up to the mountain.
Also, from November until the 20th of April, roads are closed at Yamada Onsen/Kusatsu-Manza area. Be sure to check your GPS that it’s not passing through these areas. Take the Shinshu-Nakano Interchange and head towards Route 292 going up to Shigakogen.

What are included as amenities?

The in-room amenities include teapot, tea set, Yukata (Japanese robe-like wear that you may use in the hotel premise), slippers, bath towels, face towels and toothbrush. Shampoo, conditioner and liquid soap are provided at the onsen bath.
An English speaking staff is available daily to assist you with any requests or questions you may have. We offer 24-hour security on the premises, as well as luggage storage (if sent before check-in) or delivery to the airport (at least 3 days before your scheduled flight) and self-service coin laundry so that you can pack lightly or enjoy a luggage-free sightseeing before check-in or after-check-out.

Are the rooms a non-smoking room?

In compliance with the revised Japan's Health Promotion Act banning smoking in public places (that includes hotels), all our rooms are non-smoking. The Hotel installed a smoking area at the rear end of the lobby for smokers.

Is it possible to use the facilities before check-in or after check-out?

Basically check-in time is at 3p.m. For those arriving before check-in time, we have rooms (separate men and women) available where you can keep your luggage and change to ski wear. However, we advise you to keep your valuables at the Front Desk for safekeeping at the Hotel’s safe.
Please note that during days when the hotel is exclusively booked by a school’s ski lesson, we cannot allow outsiders to get inside the hotel premise before the students can checked-out. Check with the hotel if arriving early.

Is there a place to have lunch?

There’s a mini-mart inside the hotel, the biggest in the area. It sells bread, sandwiches, drinks, cup noodles and snacks. During Japan’s Golden week and in autumn, the Luciole Restaurant inside the hotel serves lunch. Please check with the hotel operation time.
At the rest house of Yokoteyama’s 1st lift, there’s a cafeteria where you can have some traditional Japanese meals ranging from ¥500-¥1,200.

Is day bathing at the onsen allowed for non-guests?

Except for days when the hotel is exclusively booked by a school’s ski lesson, day bathing is allowed for non-guests.¥800 for adults and ¥500 for child. The rate includes one face towel. Bathing is allowed from 12 noon until 9 p.m.
